Schools, Youth Groups & Colleges
and Residential Outdoor Activities
Outdoor activities are brilliant fun and get children and young adults enjoying the outdoors.Whether as a day visit or residential, outdoor adventure sports are a great way to encourage confidence and understand team and group dynamics in the great outdoors, whilst enriching the students experience of college or School and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. Our College / School and Youth Group activity sessions aim to be energetic but pitched at a level to suit each particular group and their unique needs. After 11 years as an activity provider, we can now also offer *NEW* this year, the outdoor residential experience in our own Outdoor Centre, the newest in the Lake District!
We have provided outdoor activities for Schools, Colleges, Combined Cadet Forces, Scout Groups, Sports Teams, Peer Support Groups and Charity Groups such as the NSPCC. We understand that schools, colleges and youth groups are often working within tight budgets but also want to give their members a fantastic experience to remember. For this reason we have a specific pricing structure to help things along.
Large Group Pricing
Our Schools, Youth Groups and Colleges prices are based on how many instructors we would require for your group. We recommend a ratio of 1 instructor to every 8 participants or less but some activities can be stretched to 1:12 - this does however compromise the quality of the experience, and is worth discussing as it works better for some activities than others.
We are a flexible company and are happy to discuss how to achieve any specific aims, location requirements or budgets. We also have our Bunkhouse on site, providing you with, The Lake Districts Newest Outdoor Centre, if you look at our accommodation page; Lake District Outdoor Centre , this can be booked alongside the activities, providing a residential outdoor activity experience and all the positives that go with that from 'ready steady cook' evening meals to sharing the duties.
Schools & Youth Groups (75% of the group must be under 18)
- from £375 per instructor per day activities only
- from £200 per instructor per half day activities only
Examples of activity days suitable for youth groups and college groups on residentials or day visits:
Coach size Day Visit
If you would like a day of activities for a large group arriving by coach then we have a great day of Raft Building or Canoeing plus Archery and Orienteering. Depending on the actual group size this comes in at between £38 and £50 per person.
Half Day Raft Building
With a youth group of at least 6 people - raft building is fantastic. It involves competition and planning and gets your group working together so it is a brilliant activity for sports groups and scout groups especially.
Raft Building is a ½ day activity (i.e. a morning or an afternoon) that takes place on a lake - we usually use Coniston Water. We provide buoyancy aids and helmets as well as all the equipment required to create a raft(s) and test its prowess on the water through races, tugs of war etc. It is great fun!
Half Day Gorge Walk
Youth Groups love Gorge Walking as it gives the whole group a chance to get involved and really enjoy themselves. Each challenge throughout the gorge is optional so it is accessible to everyone and we aim to get each member of the group doing a challenge that they wouldn't normally do, so that they go home feeling proud of what they achieved!
Our Gorge Walks take you up a steep sided beck and involve walking in the path of the water and scrambling over rocks with the
options of jumping into pools and climbing up and swimming under waterfalls. You will definitely have lots of fun and can, if you
choose to, get very wet.
We have a number of Gorge Walks for all ages and abilities; please ask us what would be the most suitable for your group.
Youth Group Activity Booking Information
We have easy payment and group info systems, can provide packed lunches, help source appropriate accommodation or you can stay in our new Lake District Outdoor Centre. We can also give other advice to make the ‘organiser’ job that bit easier, such as full kit lists and detailed directions in advance.
If your school, youth group or college group is large and happy to split up and experience activities separately, we can simply provide a range of our activities over the day or days after finding your groups preferences and you can all meet for a catch up at lunch.
We are registered Adventure Activities Licensing Service (AALS) providers on behalf of the HSE and we can send certificates for this and our Public Liability Insurance to groups that require this when booking.
