Scrambling gives larger groups the opportunity to feel a great sense of achievement whilst admiring the beautiful views of the Lake District including Langdale, Coniston and the surrounding areas.
Using your hands and feet to reach the summit of the mountain allows you to cover more ground and use a more direct route, than you would if you were fell walking. We provide rock helmets and harnesses (and full breathable waterproofs on request) to ensure saftey and quality on your session as well as our delicious hot chocolate!

Scrambling Details
Scrambling is a combination of rock climbing and fell walking. It involves ongoing small climbs up a steep ascent and although it is not clinging on to sheer rock faces with just your fingertips, you are roped up with a harness & helmet for safety.
The beauty of this adventure is that it allows you access to areas beyond the casual hill-walker's reach. Up there among truly impressive scenery, your journey will take you up 1000ft to a stunning view across the Lakeland fells and a real sense of achievement.
What do we do in a typical Scrambling session
In general, all our outdoor activity sessions aim to include elements of fun, learning new skills and going on a journey. However, each session will generally have one of these elements as its main focus either because the activity naturally suggests it, (eg. Walking a journey), or to tailor the session to the groups aims. Be sure to let our office/your instructor know if there is something you would like to do or learn (or not learn as the case may be!). We will always remember that you are doing the activity as part of your time off and so your enjoyment will always be our priority.
Once everybody is kitted up, our qualified instructor will lead the group up one of many possible trails. At certain points within the journey, groups will be assisted and attached using a harness, providing extra support for the single pitch rock climbing up the steeper, more stenuous, parts of the scramble. There are also many opportunities on route for taking some really beautiful pictures... and also have a snack or drink of yummy hot chocolate along the way.
